How to get there

The retreat starts Wednesday at 5 pm until Sunday 12 pm/midday.

BEST AND CLOSEST: Santa Marta

Santa Marta/ Simon Bolívar Airport (SMR)
About 1:30 hrs drive to the Retreat Center (Gitana del Mar).

Our group shuttle:
Leaves from SMR Airport to Gitana (wait at the Airport for us)
Arrival day: Around 3:30/4 pm
Departure day: 12/noon

Taxi:
Taxi’s are available at the Airport for $65 USD (price in 2025)

Go by bus: Local Santa Marta City Bus

  • The Moovit app identifies city buses 03, 03A/B/D that go through Bonda and toward Buritaca, stopping near Gitana del Mar (~5 min walk - let us know, someone can pick you up!)

  • First bus departs ~5:11 AM, last around 10:44 PM. Time depends on your zone in Santa Marta (30–60 min). Cost is minimal ~USD 0.50 cent

OTHER OPTIONS:

Airport: Barranquilla (BAQ)
About 2.5 hr drive to the Retreat Center (Gitana del Mar).

Get a private taxi or rent a car.

Bus options:

Barranquilla → Santa Marta + Taxi/Mini‑bus

  • Bus: Terminal Barranquilla → Terminal Santa Marta. Frequent service (~1.5–2.5 hrs, ~ USD 5–10) .

  • Taxi or arranged shuttle: Terminal Santa Marta → Gitana del Mar (~45 min, USD 14–22)

Direct Bus to Buritaca (The village next to the retreat center)

  • Companies like Expreso Brasilia and Unitransco run routes from Barranquilla Terminal to Buritaca via the Caribbean corridor

  • Fare: approx COP 43 000 (~USD 11), journey time ~3 hrs

  • Buses depart early morning (~1:00 AM) until late (~11:30 PM)


Airport: Cartagena (CTG):

About 5 hr drive to the Retreat Center (Gitana del Mar).

Drive (rental car/private)

  • Approx 266 km, about 4 hours nonstop

Bus + Taxi

  • Bus from Cartagena Terminal de Transporte to Santa Marta Terminal (~3 ¾ hours, $15–22 USD)
